A “Broad” View by Dini Petty
Dini Petty is a Canadian icon and A “Broad” View is her story. It’s a story that people want to hear. There are few women whose life journey takes them where Dini Petty has been. In this show she draws audiences into her personal universe. The audience laughs, cries and occasionally gasps with her honest, true from life stories.
Truth with humor is the key to her storytelling and there are so many stories. At age 22 Dini became the first women in the world to fly a helicopter while doing a broadcast. When she retired her pink jump suit it was onto City TV. Dini was one of the originals of the precedent setting CITYPULSE News team. She helped to create a format that has been copied the world over. CITY TV led her to the studios of CTV where for a decade her talk show “Dini”, became regular weekday fare for Canadians across the country.
This personal odyssey is a look back into a journey of self discovery, through great times, good times, painful times and even some moments of terror.
In the end, this story is one audiences find fascinating, inspiring and very down to earth. “Dini is witty and just slightly on the edge, resulting in an entertaining and moving performance. She connects with the audience; many felt like they were chatting with Dini in their living room and simply couldn’t stop listening to her”

Dini is the recipient of Six Can Pro Awards for television excellence for either her talk show or documentary work. Four Gemini awards for her interviewing skills. Audience and Presenter Comments
Dini Petty was a storyteller like Stuart Mclean, but her stories were her own true experiences from her own fascinating life. She spoke not from a script but from the heart.
Frank Dzijacky, Geraldton Kinsmen Overture Concerts
“Dini was very professional throughout her stay in St. Thomas... Dini was very gracious about all aspects of her visit here: from the sound/tech equipment we provided, to the theater venue, to the hotel and dinner arrangements, as well as at the reception following her show. There was not a thing negative about Dini or her show. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting Dini and can say her show was a 'Class Act'." - Carol Ewaskiw, President, St. Thomas Peforming Arts

“Having just returned from the Gayety Theater featuring Dini Petty's show A Broad View, I feel compelled to share with you the great experience. She performs a one person show that is compassionate, funny, relatable and clever. In addition her poetry is brilliant and her finale is a poem/children’s book, its fabulous!! She performs again tomorrow night and it is well worthwhile if you can attend (in my opinion). Just had to share this. - Jo-Ann Kelly
Dini - such a pleasure to have you with us at Meadowvale Theatre last night. Super show! All the changes (including the costumes) work in your favor. Many positive responses today. Interesting to note that our young son (early 30's) and his lady were truly impressed and have both called to say how much they enjoyed the evening. Thank you for being so easy to work with; thank you for being so talented; thank you for being Dini.
Paul Eck, Meadowvale Theatre
