Steve Poltz returns to LTA with the release of new CD, TravelingLiveTourArtists is pleased to announce exclusive Canadian representation for singer/songwriter, Steve Poltz. The Maritimes born, Califoirnia resident catapulted into recognition in the '90s as former guitarist with Jewel and co-author of her massive hit, "You Were Meant For Me". His solo albums and live concert reputation have slowly built up a dedicated following of fans internationally. Steve returns to Canada on June 11 to perform the National Anthem at The Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre, and will also appear at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival in July in Nova Scotia. David Francey wins 2008 Juno for Right of Passage CDLTA is honoured to announce that highly respected singer/songwriter, David Francey has once again been awarded with a Juno in the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year category for his his latest CD, Right of Passage. This marks the third time that Francey has won this particular Juno. In 2003, it was for his album, Far End of Summer and in 2004 it was for the critically acclaimed disc, Skating Rink. The Joys named winners in the 2008 Jack Richardson AwardsThe 2008 Jack Richardson Awards were handed out last night in London, Ontario and LTA is pleased to report that The Joys were given top honours in the Rock Category. The awards, recognizing excellence in musicians from the London area, are named for legendary rock producer Jack Richardson who was in attendance at this year's ceremony. Honeymoon Suite honoured at First Annual Niagara Music AwardsIn recognition of their stature with their origins in the Niagara region, legendary Candian rockers Honeymoon Suite have been recognized as recipients of the first ever Special Achievement Award at the 2008 Niagara Music Awards. Little Miss Higgins wins 2008 Indies AwardOn the heels of 2008 Folk Alliance conference in Memphis where Little Miss Higgins was one of the event's top buzz acts, LTA is pleased to report that she has won the 2008 Indie Award under Favourite Blues Artist or Group of the Year. The Awards were part of the 2008 Canadian Music Week industry conference in Toronto where Little Miss Higgins also showcased to full houses at The Cameron and Hugh's Room. Paul Quarrington of Porkbelly Futures named winner of Canada Reads 2008CBC Radio 1's national competition to select one already well-recognized book for the nation to collectively read has just announced this year's winner. It has gone to the award-winning author and guitarist/vocalist with Porkbelly Futures, Paul Quarrington. The week long on-air discussion and debate narrowed the field down from books by Nalo Hopkinson, Mavis Gallant, Thomas Wharton and Timothy Findlay to settle on Paul Quarrington's King Leary, a novel about hockey, winter and a charming octogenarian rascal.
